Our story

It began as a summer job.

Simon, Tye and Noah started Bright-Side to put money away for college. That was the whole plan. Knock on a few doors around Waterford, clean some windows over the summer, and go back to class in September with tuition covered.

The problem was that people kept calling back. One window clean turned into gutters in the fall. A gutter job turned into the neighbour's driveway. Somebody asked whether we did roofs, so we learned how to do roofs properly instead of saying no. Somewhere in there it stopped being a way to make money for school and became the thing we actually wanted to be doing, and we started buying real equipment instead of borrowing it.

It started with three of us. It is two of us now, and we are brothers, which is the part that matters when something goes wrong on a job. There is nobody to hand it off to and nobody to blame. It gets sorted out at the dinner table.

We run out of Vanessa, with a second base up in Bancroft for cottage country, and our range is about 200 km in every direction from home. Some of that is the width of Norfolk County. Some of it is a two hour drive because a customer moved and asked us to keep coming.

What has not changed is who shows up. There is no crew you have not met and no subcontractor with our sticker on their van. One of our Google reviews calls us "very fussy about every detail", which we will take. Another says the windows came up so clean that a bird flew into one, which we feel worse about.
